Anything
I realized yesterday that that question people always ask, “If you could do anything without concern for income, what would you do?’—that question isn’t rhetorical for me. I could actually do anything I want to do. Right now on a small scale. In four years on a grand scale. Because my family does not depend on my income, I could do anything.
Anything…
I Bought Christmas Presents at Goodwill
This year, for reasons both noble and practical, Justin and I went about buying Christmas presents a little differently than usual. I know, a Christmas presents post at the end of January? A little late.
Gotcha. I just couldn’t post about the presents until I’d actually given them.
This Christmas we gave our friends and family, anyone on the usual gift list, used books. Used copies...
Celebrate my birthday! Build a well!
To celebrate my 30th birthday (yes, I said it, 30th), I’m asking you to join with me in raising money to build a well through Charity: Water.
I realized a few years ago that I simply don’t need anymore stuff. So, I basically don’t need presents. But I still like the idea of celebrating another year living God’s will for me here on earth. What better way to celebrate than...
Coming Soon

Reason 1: the book.
Reason 2: a joint blog project with Mr. Justin Gerhardt to be unveiled next week.
Yes, it is going to be awesome. And very, very funny.
Stay tuned for details on the duo blog and no...
Reading Books
I read four books last week. All good.

Run by Ann Patchett felt like cuddling up on a cozy couch, looking out the window at a world blanketed in snowy silence. Peaceful. Warm.
The pilgrimage book in the ancient practices series from Thomas Nelson (by...
Anne Patchett Makes Me Happy
I finished Anne Patchett’s Run just a few minutes ago. Appropriately, I raced through it.
That woman has a gift for truth and beauty.
If you haven’t read one of her novels (Run, Bel Canto, The Patron Saint of Liars) you’re missing some of the most magical writing in print. And her characters… They’re a defense of the goodness of man.
When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not...

This sounds right. And terrifying.
